Nustaff Recruitment are recruiting for a fabrication/saw operative to join our client in the Chepstow area. The Saw Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of sawing machines and the Guillotine in a production environment.
The successful candidate will be able to set up and operate saws in order to cut and shape a variety of materials to customer specifications. They will be required to read and interpret cutting diagrams, select the correct blades and adjust the machine settings to ensure accurate and safe operation. All saws are CNC operated. The Saw Operator will also be responsible for the maintenance of their equipment and for ensuring the safe storage and disposal of scrap material. Attention to detail and an excellent safety record are essential for this role.
Duties
- Set up and operate a variety of saws/guillotine to cut metal
- Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications
- File and smooth rough edges and surfaces
- Read and process job orders to determine product specifications
- Select and install saw blades
- Maintain saws, checking and replacing worn blades, and monitoring cutting fluid levels
- Keep records of dip slide testing
- Examine finished work/pieces for defects
- Package / pack all cut pieces safely
- Maintain housekeeping around fabrication area
Hours
- Monday - Friday 11am-8pm but will move onto nights 11pm-8am
- Full-time, Temp to perm
Salary: £13.80p/h
Contract length: 12 months
