Matt Bowles reflects on the impact he’s made since joining NuStaff

Just under a year ago, Matt Bowles joined the NuStaff team as Cwmbran Branch Manager. In that time, he’s made a huge impact on the business, from leading the Cwmbran team and living our values every day, to winning new clients and representing NuStaff and the wider Vester Group at industry events.

We caught up with Matt to reflect on his journey so far and to find out what’s ahead.

“I was attracted to NuStaff because of the opportunity to build something and make a real impact,” Matt explains. “The business already had a strong reputation and history, but it was clear there was ambition to grow and evolve. From meeting Dave for the first time, it was obvious there was a strong vision for both the short-term and long-term direction of the business, which really stood out to me.”

Since Matt joined, that ambition has quickly turned into action. The launch of Vester Group, alongside Winberry and Executive HR, has marked a significant period of growth and evolution for the business, with the wider team playing an active role in shaping what comes next.

Reflecting on this, Matts says:

“It’s been fast paced but very rewarding. From the start, there’s been a real focus on relationships, both with clients and within the team. What surprised me most is how quickly the group has been able to grow over the last few months. It really shows the ambition within the business and the direction the group wants to take moving forward, which makes it exciting to be part of.”

That focus on relationships sits at the heart of NuStaff’s approach something Matt has fully embraced in his role.

“What makes it rewarding is seeing the direct impact we’re having,” he says. “One of my proudest achievements has been helping grow the Cwmbran branch and strengthening the relationships we have with local businesses. Seeing the number of workers out on assignment increase and knowing that we’re helping both clients and candidates is a great feeling.”

For Matt, it’s not just about filling roles, it’s about building partnerships that last.

“It’s been great to build long-term relationships where we’re not just supplying labour but genuinely working with businesses to improve their recruitment processes.”

Alongside growth, Matt has also focused on building the right foundations to support long-term success.

“I think the biggest impact has been around growth and structure. I’ve focused on developing strong client relationships, increasing our presence with local businesses, and ensuring we consistently deliver for the clients we support.

Alongside that, I’ve worked on putting stronger processes and structure in place to help the branch run more efficiently and support future growth. It’s about making sure we’re not just growing, but growing in the right way, while maintaining a high level of service for both clients and candidates.”

NuStaff’s culture is built around a leadership team that empowers individuals while providing the support needed to succeed.

“The leadership team is very approachable and open to ideas,” Matt explains. “There’s a lot of trust given to people running their branches, but at the same time you know there’s support there whenever you need it. That balance allows people to take ownership while still feeling backed by the wider group.”

With strong foundations in place, Matt is focused firmly on what comes next and we can’t wait to watch him thrive.
